Employment Search

It hasn't always been the easiest transition for those coming back from war to enter the workforce. Unemployment has risen in recent years, but that has allowed for partnerships between Veterans Affairs and businesses to create more opportunities for military veterans. New VA programs are constantly promoting the hiring and interviewing of veterans. While young veterans face more unemployment problems after active duty due to lack of education, you can find a job in your field and still be successful with these new VA programs.

The VA and General Services Administration signed a formal agreement in November 2011 to expand the GSA's efforts for veterans who want to own businesses. The agreement places more emphasis on programs for veteran-owned businesses, particularly ones with service-related disabilities.

There are also incentives and more job listings for veterans than ever before. Sites such as Military.com and VA have set up ways for veterans to look for jobs that will specifically hire veterans. There is also a new bill being proposed that will add more incentives to veterans find jobs with certain employers.
